home repair contacts

For the past 12 years we had a full service retail photo shop in San Marcos, Texas where we developed a large clientele of customers who depended on us to maintain their photo equipment.
With the advent of digital photography we made the transition to repairing them but not selling them. There are too many retail outlets and not enough margin for us to compete in the digital retail market. But we have found a need in the repair market that we can meet.
So we want to assure all our customer of the past as well as any prospective customers that we are still repairing cameras whether they are film or digital. We also continue our repairs of the good old stuff, like movie and slide projectors, overhead projectors and vintage cameras.

In Austin and San Marcos, we have repair facilities closed to the public because they are in residential areas.

In both cities we have business drop-off locations that work with us for delivery and pick up of equipment for repair.

Before you drop off your equipment we ask that you call us first to discuss your repair needs. We will give you a rough estimate over the phone to help you decide on the option of repair. You will be given a repair receipt like the one shown below as your proof of the repair transition. Present this when picking up your repair.

There are those unfortunate occasions where parts are no longer available from any source and we are unable to fabricate the needed parts. It's not too often but it does happen. So although we thoroughly enjoy working on older and obsolete equipment, we can't guarantee that it is fixable. If you have broken equipment and would like an email or over the phone estimate, there is no charge. However, this type of estimate is based on past problems with similar models and is not guaranteed to be the final estimate on your equipment.

In-house estimates are subject to the following minimum charges (which will be included in the final estimate):

      $36.00 Point & Shoots
      $46.00 All film SLR cameras
$46.00 Projectors (incl. slide, film, etc)
$56.00 Professional (incl. Mamiya, Bronica, Hasselblad, med. format, etc)
      $56.00 Digital Cameras
      $56.00 Video Cameras

That involves a detailed disassembly of your equipment to its testing points in order to find the exact problem. Once a final estimate is given to you (via email, phone or regular USPS), you have the option of approving or disapproving that estimate amount.

The minimum charge is due in advance before an In-house Estimate is given on your equipment. You can send a check/money order for the amount or we can call you when the equipment arrives if you prefer to pay with credit card.

If the final estimate is approved, the minimum charge is included in that estimate however shipping will be additional.

Approved Estimates: One to four week turn around time (not including shipping time) for the repair barring any part(s) ordering. If part(s) are necessary, please add an additional 10 to 14 days to the repair time. Once repaired, tested, and payment has been received your equipment will be sent back to you via insured UPS (unless otherwise specified). BY SENDING YOUR EQUIPMENT TO US FOR REPAIR YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT A VERBAL, PHONE AND/OR EMAIL APPROVAL BY YOU IS SUFFICIENT TO EFFECT REPAIRS TO YOUR EQUIPMENT AND THAT YOU AGREE TO PAY FOR SAID REPAIRS.

All repairs are guaranteed with a 90 day warranty on the original repair.

Warranty is voided by Liquid, Sand (dirt or other substance), Impact or Abuse damage.

Warranty does not cover customer's return shipping costs if warranty work is needed.

1. We cannot be held responsible for anything beyond our control. For example, if your equipment is damaged by a disgruntled US Postal Worker, you're beef is with them, not us. But not to worry, our Postman is a swell guy.
2. This list is not, and cannot, be all inclusive. We've covered the major points here, but there are always exceptions to every rule.
3. We are not an authorized service center for any brand or manufacturer. We do not do factory warranties nor can we help you with factory warranties. However, we have done work with extended warranties with companies who have contacted us. If you have any questions regarding your repair, please call or email us.

All shipments are sent UPS unless otherwise specified and are insured for their approximate value.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY C.O.D. SHIPMENTS
We will refuse to accept any shipments sent to us C.O.D. This includes warranty repairs or defective merchandise as well.

When shipping your equipment to us please be sure to do the following:

Include your name, address, phone number and email address.
Include as detailed description as you can of the problem with your equipment
DO NOT SEND batteries, straps, cases, lens caps, etc. While we try to keep a good eye on these items, we are not responsible for them.
Be sure to package your equipment carefully and be sure to have it insured for it's value.
If your digital camera takes a special battery, include it along with the battery charger.
